Hiveseed
The Future Is Cooperative
Our purpose
Hiveseed exists to create, promote, and support social systems of cooperation and to resist, reduce, and remove social systems of domination.
All social systems emerge from a paradigm. A paradigm is the underlying set of beliefs people have that shape, over time, how the system functions.
Paradigm of Cooperation:
Distributed, dynamic power
Networked, integrated structures
Dispersed, nuanced local understanding
Mutualism & consensus
Participative & transparentÂ
Generative & interdependent
Freedom of mobility & information
Egalitarian benefit distribution
Examples: Democracies, Worker Cooperatives
Paradigm of Domination:
Centralized, entrenched power
Hierarchical, isolated structures
Enclosed, myopic legibility
Competition & coercion
Autocratic & opaque
Exploitive & expropriative
Restricted mobility & information
Inequitable benefit distribution
Examples: Oligarchies, Corporations
Our actions
We primarily act through the domain of business to create cooperative experiences and examples that can achieve societal spillover and groundswell.
Specifically we seek to:
promote cooperative business practices in any organization
support existing worker cooperatives and related entities
increase the creation or conversion of worker cooperatives
advocate and assist cooperative approaches in local policy & institutions
spread of the cooperative paradigm throughout society
Business practices can (and should) change frequently to meet changing needs and adapt to evolving situations. To ensure practices remain grounded in a paradigm of cooperation, its important to evaluate them against principles for cooperative business practices.
Principles for cooperative business practices:
Distribute control evenly & wealth equitably
Ensure safe worker mobility
Provide radical transparency, autonomy, & involvement
Develop people deliberately, and leaders especially
Use network structures & dynamic group membership
Routinely reevaluate and adjust policies, processes, and practices
